A pair of vintage Dolce and Gabbana thigh-high boots sells for $350 but needs some real rehab

These rare vintage Dolce and Gabbana black leather thigh-high boots sold for $350.  The seller originally listed them for with a Buy It Now price of $1,000 before dropping the price to $500 and then $350.

These D/G boots have long been some of my favorites.  Any other time, these boots, in this size 40, would have been very tempting had they been in better condition.  Unfortunately, there appeared to be a fair amount of wear to the leather around the soles, heels and toes.  However, the real dealbreaker was that it appeared that the heel on the right boot had been broken and not properly repaired.  It looks to be almost bent in this first photo.

And in these photos, there's an obvious split in the sole at the top of the heel.  Laying side by side, it also appears that the heels don't line up.

Any other time, $350 would have been a deal for these boots.  However, to get them in "like new" condition seems like it would take another $200 investment from a good shoe repair shop.  While these boots are usually super sexy, this is a pair of "project boots" for someone who doesn't mind spending some extra money to make them really nice again!

Again, that heel looks like it's facing too far to the front in this photo below.

Those poor heels are just trashed!

For what it's worth, the buyer did leave a positive review with just the text "great quality."  Assuming they studied the auction photos, at least they knew what they were getting into!

Deep red leather opera gloves sell for $123.50

 eBay glove seller "junkonsale" sold these red leather opera gloves by Wing Weft for an impressive $123.50.  The deep red color on these is unusual and makes them look richer than regular red leather opera gloves.

These gloves were a size 7.5-8 and measured a little over 23 inches.  They'd make the perfect accessory for a sexy Valentine's Day or Christmas outfit!

 

Last-minute bidding drives up the price on Tamara Mellon's classic "Icon" boots

These Tamara Mellon "Icon" boots sold for an impressive $405.  What's especially impressive is that I was tracking this auction and it went into the final minute of bidding with only a $71 bid.  I thought someone was going to get a real deal on these, but then the bids shot up within the last minute.

These size 39 boots were made in Italy and feature a sexy 105mm heel and nicely pointed toes.  These are the classic black leather knee-high boot style.  They're also trendy in that they can be worn slouchy.  They've just recently been discontinued by the designer, which is interesting considering how popular these are with the fashion bloggers.  Tamara Mellon herself also wore them for several photo shoots.

Biondini black leather thigh-high boots make a rare appearance

 A seller in Germany sold these stunning Biondini black leather thigh-high boots for a deserving $474.  This auction received an amazing 67 bids!

These size 41 boots were nicely modeled over skinny jeans and leather pants.  These Italian-made boots featured sexy stiletto heels and pointy toes.  Unfortunately, those pointy toes also tend to get significant wear as the seller's photos also show.

Interesting to note that in the background of some of the photos you can see more sexy stiletto-heeled black leather boots.  This seller has excellent taste in boots!  And I can only imagine how sexy those stiletto heels sound walking across her hardwood floors!

A real deal on Coach "Monet" OTK boots

For their starting bid of $28, someone got a real deal on these vintage, hard-to-find Coach "Monet" black leather OTK boots.  Elsewhere online, these boots are listed for anywhere from $98 to $325!

These size 8M boots were made in Italy and feature strap and buckle details along the shafts and narrow stacked heels.

A 2018 post on this blog shows a size 8 pair selling for $289.99!

More women's long leather gloves nicely modeled

These nicely modeled black leather gloves in a size XL sold for $44.  Had it not been for the modeling, I'm not sure these would have sold for nearly as much.

Vintage long black leather gloves from Nordstrom

These vintage 21" long black leather opera gloves from Nordstrom sold for an impressive $105.50.  These size L gloves featured studded detailing down the side of each glove.

Although Nordstrom used to feature long leather gloves regularly as part of its fall/winter collection, it hasn't done so for years.
