Long black leather opera gloves sell really well!

I watched these 26.5" long black leather opera gloves go from $81.00 to $144.70 in the last 10 seconds of bidding.  I figure they sold so well for a couple of reasons: 1) they're a popular size 8.5 and 2) I suspect they're vintage Classic Leatherwear gloves.

Although the seller didn't stated that they were custom made, I've owned these gloves before and the elastic at the wrist and the fact that they're lined in a black silky material make me think these are Classic Leatherwear.

These are highly sought after leather gloves that I believe originated in Canada, but are no longer made.  I was fortunate to get my hands on a pair on eBay several years ago for $125 and later sold them on because they weren't getting enough use.

A rare appearance by Classic Leatherwear gloves

Even without good pictures, these rare Classic Leatherwear black leather opera gloves sold for a very impressive $255.01.   These gloves were extra long at 28.5" as well as a popular size 8.

Classic Leatherwear gloves make a rare appearance

These Classic Leatherwear black leather opera gloves rarely appear on eBay these days, yet two pairs from different sellers appeared together in a short period of time.

This pair was previously worn and described by the seller as a size 6-7. The seller stated that these measured 21" long, although they look longer, and sold for a respectable $152.50. I only wish the seller had provided more pictures...and preferably not clipped to a hanger!

This pair of Classic Leatherwear gloves was a size 9, brand new, and sold for $136.58.

Again, I wish the seller had provided more pictures of these great gloves!

Classic Leatherwear leather opera gloves

These Classic Leatherwear long black leather opera gloves sold for their opening bid of $224.99.

These size 7.5 gloves were NWOT and still attached with their original strings. These true opera gloves measure an impressive 28" long.

A deal on Classic Leatherwear opera gloves

At $102.50, someone got a decent deal on these rare Classic Leatherwear black leather opera gloves in an even rarer size 10. I've seen these 29" gloves sell for close to $200 several times on eBay. Per the attached price tag of $120.00, it looks like they were purchased at a thrift or consignment store.

Classic Leatherwear vintage opera gloves

What Wild Pair is to vintage leather thigh-high boots, Classic Leatherwear is to vintage leather opera gloves.

At 27.5" long, they're some of the longest and roomiest vintage gloves I've ever come across. Interesting, as the seller listed them as either ladies' or mens' leather opera gloves.

These gloves rarely appear on eBay and when they do, almost always fetch a "collector's" price. Even worn, these size XL gloves sold for an impressive $150.99.

Classic Leatherwear opera gloves fetch an amazing price!

Wow, eBay glove seller "junkonsale" sold these Classic Leatherwear black leather opera gloves for an amazing $302.99. This is quite possibly the most I've ever seen someone pay for a vintage, used pair of leather opera gloves. The auction started at $74.99.

I don't know whether it was the fact that the seller included the original ad or emphasized how rare these are, but I am just amazed at how much these sold for. While the original ad is impressive, the gloves look wrinkly and quite frankly, used!

Here is part of the auction text:
You are bidding on an awesome and *RARE* pair of Classic Leatherwear super soft long black leather opera gloves, size 8.5, 27 1/4 inches long. If you are a serious glove collector, then you know how rare these gloves are. We purchased these from someone who paid a lot of money for them at a fashion/charity auction in New York but these have been sitting around for years and will probably never be used, so they might as well find a new home!
Now is a good time to get your hands on and in these gloves! They are great gift or addition to any woman's wardrobe or collection. Wear them with matching boots, shoes or handbag. For everyday use, that special occasion or your personal glove collection.

Nice price for Classic Leatherwear opera gloves

eBay leather seller "Rocannalea" sold these Classic Leatherwear black leather opera gloves in a size 8 for a very impressive $157.50.

As usual with "Rocannalea," there's some very fine modeling to compliment their auction ads. Love the dominatrix look!

Classic Leatherwear gloves reappear and sell well

It's nice to see that the Classic Leatherwear long black leather gloves still have selling power. An eBay seller recently listed two pair of these 28" long gloves - a size 8 and a size 8.5. As the seller started these at $69.99 and they had no bids with a few hours left in the auction, I thought I might be able to snap them up for my bid of $71.07 on each.

It was nice to see this size 8 pair sell for an impressive $123.52. And the size 8.5 pair sold for $102.50. Interesting, as it appears they were both purchased by the same buyer - another glove collector or perhaps to re-sell on eBay?

As a point of reference, the Classic Leatherwear gloves were the first real pair of opera-length leather gloves that I owned. A leather seller on eBay sold several pairs of these and it seems like I paid in the $125-$150 range for these, and later, another identical pair in a smaller size. I remember that when the first pair arrived, I'd just arrived home from work to find that the mailman had left a delivery notice. As I'd seen the mail truck down the street, and I didn't want to wait until the following day to pick them up at the post office, I ran down the street and caught the mailman, who was able to give me the package from the truck. I also have especially fond memories of these gloves as on one memorable night at my old house, I actually got my wife to model these for me. So it's kind of surprising that I ended up selling them on eBay a few years ago, I think because they fit loosely and I was getting too many gloves in my collection.
